----AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION'S MISSION STATEMENT---- The mission of Agricultural Education is to prepare and support individuals for careers, build awareness and develop leadership for the food, fiber and natural resource systems.
Primary Goals for the West Perry Agricultural Education Program: 1. To provide basic education in agriculture for those engaged in or planning to engage in careers in agricultural or related occupations in which the knowledge of agricultural science, production technology, and processing and marketing technology is useful in the performance of the occupation. 2. To provide basic education in agriculture for those who plan careers in the field of agriculture requiring post-high school or college training. 3. To provide basic education in agriculture for those engaged in or planning to engage in careers in production agriculture. 4. To provide exploratory opportunities of an educational and vocational nature in agriculture prior to and during enrollment in the agricultural education program. 5. To develop a sense of responsibility in good citizenship and cooperation through participation in career development activities of the FFA youth organization. 6. To provide awareness and develop appreciation of agriculture’s impact on the environment and society. 7. To develop opportunities for students to participate in supervised agricultural experience (SAE) programs to develop the technical skills necessary for career success.
----------FFA’S MISSION STATEMENT----------- The mission of the National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. To accomplish this mission, FFA: · Develops competent and assertive agricultural leadership. · Increases awareness of the global and technological importance of agriculture and its contribution to our well being. · Strengthens the confidence of agriculture students in themselves and their work. · Promotes the intelligent choice and establishment of an agricultural career. · Encourages achievement in supervised agricultural experience programs. · Encourages wise management of economic, environmental, and human resources of the community. · Develops interpersonal skills in teamwork, communications, human relations and social interaction. · Builds character and promotes citizenship, volunteerism and patriotism. · Promotes cooperation and cooperative attitudes among people. · Promote healthy lifestyles. · Encourages excellence in scholarship.
